Your First Look: PING G410 Family

More forgiveness, more speed and more adjustability—those are the key facets of PING’s new G410 driver and fairways that it released today. With the highest moment of inertia (the measurement for forgiveness) on the market, PING tweaked the Turbulators (the ridges on the crown of the driver that are designed to improve aerodynamics), and added moveable weights to make the driver easily adjustable to all swings.  The company says that bringing moveable weights to the driver without hurting the MOI is key and their engineers figured it out with the most adjustable driver they’ve ever made.

Key Technologies

Movable weight

New to PING, the 16-gram movable weight can easily be placed in three positions—center, fade or draw—to add 10-yards of movement, straightening any shot. PING worked diligently to make the moveable weights a seamless part of the driver, without impacting other elements of the design. Couple with Trajectory Tuning 2.0, with an adjustable hosel that allows five loft-only adjustments, G410 is the most easily fit driver PING has offered. It can also be altered up to 3 degrees flatter in lie angle.

Dragonfly

Introduced in the G driver, this technology allows the company to create an ultra-thin, but durable, crown. PING cleaned up the technology (it isn’t evident from the exterior), providing a faster look at address.

Forged Face

With a unique forging process, PING says the titanium face flexes more than ever, offering higher ball speeds in the process. At the same time, PING has made drives feel soft off the face, while keeping the great sound G drivers are noted for.

Four shaft options

Four shafts come as options for G410, including a counterbalanced shaft designed to add speed to the swing.

Who’s it for?

G410

There’s lots of talk about ball speeds and spin this year, as manufacturers eke out every last bit of speed from the face. PING isn’t ignoring that—G410 is fast—but continues to work on designing a driver that will keep you from flying your tee shots into the woods or hooking into ponds. With the highest forgiveness in the business, and now with more adjustability, G410 is ideal for the player who wants to consistently find fairways.

G410 SFT

Designed for the player who struggles to square the face and in turn hits a hook. Coupled with the new weighting system, G410 SFT should straighten any slicer’s drive substantially.

G410 Fairways

Powered by a forged, maraging steel face, the G410 fairway woods are engineered to launch the ball easily and deliver faster ball speeds on a penetrating trajectory that maximizes distance. PING engineers positioned the low-back CG slightly forward of the G400 model to deliver more energy from the shallower face while providing greater stability and forgiveness. Three models (Standard, Straight Flight, Low Spin) ensure an option to fit every golfer.

G410 Hybrids

PING’s first-ever adjustable hybrid allows you to customize your ball flight eight different ways through loft (+- 1.5˚) and lie combinations for consistently better results. Thinner and more flexible, the maraging-steel face generates faster ball speeds and higher launch so you carry trouble while hitting (and holding) more greens. A larger profile and high-density back weight provide added stability and elevate MOI for more forgiveness.

G410 Irons

What if you could create a game improvement iron with all the technology, but with a clean look that attracts mid and even lower handicap golfers? That’s exactly what PING is doing with its G410 irons.

Smaller, cleaner, but with the flight characteristics of its previous G family of irons—that’s the goal of G410.

Key Technologies

Cavity structure

The face of the G410 is more flexible and delivers faster ball speeds due to a hollowed-out cavity structure that allowed weight to be moved to the toe and the hosel. The new structure makes PING’s G410 irons 8 percent more forgiving than its previous generation G400. In a business of incremental gains, that’s a big leap.

Great trajectory

The new face allows G410 to fly farther and higher, meaning players will hit shorter clubs into greens and hold them more readily. PING decoupled the weight structure of the club from the face, creating a bigger flexing area, making the ball launch higher and faster.

Aesthetics

A lot of tech in a smaller package with less offset—that’s what G410 offers. There’s actually 10% less offset compared to G400, meaning this has a look that will appeal to the better golfer. It isn’t a blade, but it does offer a look that inspires confidence without being overly cumbersome in appearance.

Who’s it for

This is a game improvement iron that will appeal to single digit handicap golfers who were turned off in the past by clunky aesthetics and the offset that comes with irons designed to help you get the ball in the air.

  1. The new G410 are they interchangeable shafts? Do they make left handed and do they have avaiable 7-woods left and 9- woods left handed?

    1. Hi Gary, The best way to know is to test our different shafts in our store, so we can determine factors like your swing speed and make a recommendation for what you should be using.
