COBRA LAUNCHES FIFTH GEN OF KING TEC IRONS

Five forgings. Better feel. More distance.

Those are the keys to Cobra’s fifth generation of its King Tec and King Tec-X irons, while the company continues to invest in its one-length irons as well to cover an impressive array of golfers with handicaps from scratch to 20. And, of course, Cobra continues to improve the look of its King Tec irons, creating a sleek and sexy scoring machine that provides plenty of distance.

King Tec Irons

With a new shorter blade, softened topline highlighting a refined shape, the fifth version of Cobra’s much-discussed King Tec irons adds a fifth forging process to ensure a feel that has few rivals in a player’s iron.

Five Forging Process

In the past, Cobra has used a four-step process for forging, but the latest incarnation of the King Tec includes a fifth process to deliver precise shaping and enhanced feel. The process begins by heating carbon steel billets to 1,200 degrees Celsius, rough forging them three times. The fourth process refines the shape, and adds details and the logo, while the fifth forging adds 2,000 tons of pressure to create a uniform grain structure before polishing and milling the grooves.

H.O.T Face Variable Thickness Geometry

With a forged PWRSHELL technology, and variable thickness geometry, Cobra has created a thinner and more robust face for faster speeds. With 20 grams of tungsten strategically placed in the low heel area, players will find less twisting in the face at impact, while progressive construction design means the longer irons launch high with added carry, while the shorter irons offer a more penetrating flight.

Are they for me?

If you’re looking for a player’s iron with a lot of tech and great feel, Cobra’s King Tec should be part of your discussion. With long irons that launch high, and shorter irons that have the look and penetrating flight better golfers expect, King Tec continues to exceed expectations.

King Tec-X Irons

Improved aesthetics

While slightly larger than the King Tec, the Tec-X has a rounder and sleeker topline than previous generations and appears to have less offset. These are game improvement irons that don’t immediately look like they fit into that category.

Enhanced Feel

Remember when all game improvement irons felt like, well, game improvement irons? That’s not the case with Tec-X, which uses softer and lighter foam microspheres to dampen vibration at impact, as well as offering a better sound at the strike.

Cobra’s PWRSHELL H.O.T. Face with Variable Thickness Geometry

As is the case with King Tec, King Tec-X incorporates the latest Cobra technology for faster ball speeds across the face and more distance. A 70-gram weight is added low to help mid-handicappers get the ball in the air and improve stability on off-center strikes, while offering even more ball speed and distance.

Are they for me?

If you’re a mid-handicap (anywhere from 10 to 20) seeking a game improvement iron that doesn’t look or feel like the irons traditionally found in that space, King X Irons are certainly worth putting into your consideration set.
