Cleveland launches new CBX 2 wedge for golfers who play cavity back irons

Offering all the tech you’d find in a tour wedge, but offering a fresh take on the traditional scoring club—that’s what Cleveland Golf is doing with its new CBX 2 wedge. The company says that most wedges have been created with a top-down approach, meaning they are designed with your pros in mind, but end up in the hands of a 12-handicap. That’s why the company devised the CBX 2 for the typical Canadian golfer, which hits stores August 30.

“The short game is critical to playing your best golf, and playing wedges designed for your game – and the shots you like to hit – is key,” said Brian Schielke, Marketing Director at Cleveland Golf. “That’s why Cleveland CBX 2 wedges were created. They make the short game easier and more forgiving for the majority of golfers out there playing game-improvement equipment.”

Key Innovations Inside the CBX 2 include:

Hollow-cavity

Cleveland engineers devised a hollow chamber near the heel and a heavy weight in the toe, creating a very forgiving wedge that the company says offers unrivaled forgiveness, while still offering a pleasing look at address.

Feel Balancing & Gelback Technologies

Cleveland says it has hit a new milestone by creating a toe-biased centre of gravity on the new wedges. That innovation, combined with a new Gelback TPU insert, means the CBX 2 feels soft, while also offering crisp feedback at impact. The company says you get 25 percent more shots on the sweet spot with the new irons.

Distinct Grinds & Rotex Face Technology

There are three different grind offerings in the wedges, and they are available in lofts ranging from 46 to 60 degrees, but spin is the king here. Rotex Face Technology provides sharp grooves for maximum spin.

Cleveland’s CBX 2 wedges are offered in a variety of different lofts and sole grinds. The V-Shaped Sole grind is offered in 46°-52° lofts. Meanwhile, the S-Shaped Sole grind is offered in 54° and 56° lofts, while the C-Shaped Sole grind is offered in 58° and 60° lofts. The wedges are available in left and right-handed options.

Fourth generation Rotex Face Technology delivers Cleveland’s sharpest Tour Zip Grooves and most aggressive face milling for maximum spin and short game control.

Who they are for?

The goal of these wedges is to help the average weekend warrior who wants their scoring clubs dialed in for their game, not that of a tour pro. Pretty much every amateur golfer can use some more forgiveness in their scoring clubs, and Cleveland Golf has recognized that fact and delivered a unique alternative in the CBX 2.
