The best golfers expect the most out of their gear and want meticulous attention to detail. After all, one shot can make a world of difference and they want to ensure that consistency is key. That’s how Callaway comes at its new Apex series of irons aimed at low-handicap golfers who demand near perfection out of their clubs. With added distance, and new multi-material construction, Callaway’s three new offerings—Pro, MB and CB—offer different looks, while improving turf interaction. The new Apex series is available for pre-order now.
Pro
Hollow
That’s the key new feature in this version of the Apex line, adding distance while providing the same great forged face one comes to expect from Callaway’s Apex line.
Microspheres
The clubs use the company’s patented urethane microspheres to dampen sound and improve feel, while allowing the face to flex, generating high ball speeds across the face of the club.
Progressive Face Design
This is a technology designed to make long irons powerful and short irons exacting. Long irons are designed with a powerful Forged 455 face cup to enhance distance and forgiveness, while short irons feature a forged 1025 face plate engineered to provide control.
Dynamic Sole Design
The goal of this development is to create a pre-worn leading edge that slices through turf like a hot knife through butter. This maintains speed throughout the strike.
CB
Buttery Soft
That’s how Callaway describes its CB line, a cavity back iron set that offers a forged face through a five-step process.
Progressive Centre Of Gravity
A progressive CG improves trajectory control, meaning the long irons feature lower CG to increase the height on shots and their ability to hold greens, while the short irons use a higher CG to lower trajectory for more spin.
Dynamic Sole Design
Like the other irons in the Apex series, the goal of this development is to create a pre-worn leading edge that slices through turf. This maintains speed throughout the strike.
MB
Forged Feel
Using 1025 carbon steel, this one-piece iron uses a proprietary forging process for the purest feel Callaway could create.
Progressive CG
Designed to create trajectory control, the long irons fly high using lower CG and the short irons have a more controllable, lower flight.
Dynamic Sole Design
Featuring a dual chamfer on the leading edge, these irons cut through the turf efficiently, creating consistent contact and better turf interaction.
Apex UT and UW
Utility woods and irons round out Callaway’s Apex series. The UT is designed to replace long irons and offer options into par-5s and off the tee. Using a 455 forged face cup that is engineered to provide exceptional distance, a multi-material forging construction with Callaway’s urethane microspheres deliver great feel. The UW option has caught on with tour pros who are intrigued by the unique profile offering many of the benefits of lofted fairway woods, the versatility of hybrids, all with a more neutral ball flight. This allows players to use them off the tee on tight holes, out of the rough as needed and into those three-shot holes.
