CALLAWAY BRINGS STABILITY TO ODYSSEY AI-ONE SQUARE 2 SQUARE MAX 1 AND MAX STRIPE

In the last couple of years, we’ve seen incredible interest in the square-to-square putter market. For those thinking, what are we talking about here, these are center-shafted putters designed for golfers with putting strokes that are straight back and straight forward, with no arc.

Callaway is introducing two new versions of its stroke-balanced putters: Ai-ONE Square 2 Square Max 1 and Max Stripe. Stability is the key to both putters, with the Max 1 and Max Stripe offering moment of inertia (which measures forgiveness) over 6,300. The Ai-ONE insert offers consistent ball speed across the face. The result—Odyssey says for those with the right stroke, you’ll hole more putts.

Aesthetics

The look of both putters is quite notable, with the Max 1 offering a simple sight line for alignment, while the Max Stripe offers a notable line using the Versa 90 concept to ensure you’re set up square. The putters come in a navy blue PVD finish for that premium look.

Ai-One Insert

Callaway continues to double down on artificial intelligence, and they’ve used it again to create the insert for the Ai-One additions. With an aluminum backer on the insert co-molded to a White Hot Urethane striking surface, golfers should find consistent speed even on mishits, with the soft feel that is immediately recognizable as White Hot.

Center shaft

The result of the center shaft is putters rest with the toe up in a reverse torque position, promoting a square face through the stroke.

Forward press

Both of the putters preset the hands in a forward press position, eliminating the need to open the face, as would be the case when a golfer typically moves into a forward press with a conventional putter.
