It took 33 tries but they finally got it right.
COBRA Golf announced today the launch of its limited-edition COBRA RF Proto Irons, a design collaboration with longtime COBRA ambassador and five-time PGA TOUR winner Rickie Fowler.
The RF Proto Irons are a replica of the head design that Fowler plays to provide golfers with an opportunity to experience what it feels like to play the same tour-calibre irons trusted weekly by one of the game’s most popular players.
Over the span of 12 months, COBRA engineers along with the company’s Director of Tour Operations, Ben Schomin, worked with Fowler every step of the way to design the perfect iron. From the shape and specs, to the turf-interaction feedback, the aesthetic preferences and the overall design, these irons underwent 32 iterations before arriving at the final version, hence the ‘Rev33’ stamp.
“I’ve played a lot of great clubs over the course of my career but we set out to create a set of irons that did what others couldn’t,” said Fowler. “We made 32 versions of a great iron, it took us 33 tries to make the perfect one.”

Individual approach & aesthetic
The entire set is designed around a 7-iron appearance, Fowler’s favourite iron shape. Each RF Proto iron (4-PW) is designed with distinctly sharp edges on the toe and topline area to suit Fowler’s eyes and delivers zero visible offset by ensuring that the hosel was developed with no taper. Perhaps the most striking feature of these irons is their distinctive, head-turning copper finish that was hand-selected by Fowler after considering dozens of finishes.
Forged & CNC Milling
With the RF Proto irons, COBRA delivers the ultimate precision iron that is two-step forged from a soft 1025 carbon steel and is then machined using a 100% CNC milling process. The entire milling process takes a total of 155 minutes per iron producing the most precise shape and specs without any inconsistencies.
Tungsten
To aid in pure shot-making and offer some added stability, the RF Proto Irons utilize a tungsten weight that is positioned out on the toe to better centre the CG, per Fowler’s request. The result is an iron that delivers superior feel and precision throughout the set.
How To Get Them
The irons officially launching Friday, January 29 and will be available online only at golftown.com in extremely limited quantities. They are available in right-hand only, 4-PW and come standard with KBS C-Taper shafts and Golf Pride Tour Velvet ALIGN grips equipped with COBRA CONNECT. The retail cost is $3,299.99.

Wow!! I currently use TaylorMade irons but these look amazing!!
Wish they made them LH. I use the previous cobra blade based on RF irons and they are nice. These look great too.
I really, really hope they continue to make these. Don’t care about the box or signed card. These blades are incredibly gorgeous.
