An icon. That’s really the only way to see Peter Millar, an apparel brand that captures the point where the history and style of the game merge with modern fabrics and aesthetics. With one foot in the lifestyle part of golf, while also solidly involved in on-course apparel, Peter Millar offers relevant prints, incredible style, and aesthetics that have few rivaled, making it one of the sport’s most authentic brands.
Brand history
Founded on a classic cashmere sweater—that’s the basis for the company that’s become known throughout the industry. Started in 2001, the goal of the company was to embody luxury, with a focus on incredible craftmanship. Over time, Peter Millar grew its line to include performance sportswear, seasonal resort clothing, and a wide range of apparel, from pants to suits. Based in North Carolina, the company utilizes the world’s best yarn spinners and specialized fabrics to create their golf-oriented products.
Fabrics are key
From the lightest golf shirts in the business at 20 ounces, to the company’s Natural Touch fabrics and performance cottons, Peter Millar has grown to encompass all of the keys in the business. While its heritage is in cotton fabrics, today 90% of the business is driven by performance fabrics, though Merino wool is still found in its cold weather sweaters.
Featherweight—Peter Millar’s lightest fabrics, this is used to create one of the lightest golf polos found in the market. This style is constructed from innovative polyester interlock knit fabric that’s unique to Peter Millar.
Drirelease Natural Touch
An incredible fabric used in performance polos that feels like cotton, but is made from a unique blend of spun polyester yarns blended with Tencel.
Crown Crafted
A unique performance polo that is made from single-knit jersey construction, and includes sun protection, the fit of this polo is more akin to European styling and is extremely popular with the Canadian market.
Looking forward
With a relentless goal of sourcing and developing the best fabrics, and a keen eye on creating great patterns for golf polos, Peter Millar has developed a unique place for itself in the golf market.
