For many, golf clothing is about aesthetics—what appeals to the eye, and suits your style.
But increasingly clothing brands are bringing more than looks to the apparel you’re wearing on the course—they are bringing technical fabrics that are more performance-oriented, making you feel more comfortable.
Here’s a closer look at the technology in some of the latest collections from Puma, adidas and Under Armour.
Puma EVOknit
This tech was featured in a number of the polos worn by Rickie Fowler during the past PGA Tour golf season, offers seamless, body-mapped ventilation, and stretch construction. Puma claims that shirt moves like no other golf polo before it. In fact, Fowler and Puma were so certain of the shirt’s benefits that polos with EVOKnit were used exclusively during the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow this past August.

adidas Climaheat
You’ll find adidas golfers like Justin Rose sporting Climaheat at events like the British Open, where cool temperatures make it key that they keep their core warm. Though Canada’s fall has been unseasonably warm in parts of the country, we know cooler weather is in the offing. Climaheat clothing—often found in adidas’ fall apparel, makes sure you’ll be warm even if the weather isn’t. Climaheat uses an unrivaled breathable insulation and moisture wicking to keep you both dry and warm.
adidas Ultimate Shorts & Pants
The Ultimate Short is adidas’ attempt to revolutionize a category that had few enhancements in recent years. In fact, the shorts have been so successful that you’ll find many of the advancements in adidas’ golf pants as well. The company starts with a stretch waistband for added mobility, and a silicone gripper to make sure your shirt is tucked in. Of course, moisture wicking tech is used to keep you dry and add to the range of motion. Perhaps one of the most interesting design choices is micromesh pockets to increase airflow and breathability.
Under Armor Threadborne
UA says this is Jordan Spieth’s favourite fabric for the polos and pants he wears on the course, and who are we to argue? The goal of Threadborne is to push the limits of design and create golf clothing that has few peers in terms of comfort and performance. Threadborne Siro fabric is soft, but equally importantly it dries incredibly fast and is super light.
Jason Day , no longer wears adidas clothing he sign a 10 million dollar contract too wear Nike apparel.
