Gone are the days of the bulky golf shoe and metal spikes. Nike has been a leader and innovator when it comes to developing and evolving equipment for top tour players.
A shoe that looks like a runner, responds like a basketball sneaker, is resilient as a soccer cleat, and feels like a cloud—that’s what Nike has achieved with their most innovative golf shoe, the Air Zoom Infinity Tour.
By incorporating design features from various athletic shoes across the company’s lineup, these kicks are a performance-driven engineering feat. Inspired by PGA Tour Professional Brooks Koepka and his fondness for wearing runners while practicing. The Air Zoom Infinity Tour may have the appearance of an running shoe, but in fact has layers of technology that is revolutionary to the golf shoe market.
The shoe leverages Flyknit for the upper, a super durable fibrous material Nike uses for its soccer cleats, REACT foam for energy return on every step, and their signature Zoom Air Strobel footbed—found in many of their basketball kicks. On the traction side, Nike once again went all out, enlisting a flock of designers to create a system that leverages the foot’s natural rotation throughout the swing, providing stability and energy return. The final result is a shoe that’s as athletic as the players who wear it.
Are they for you?
If you’re playing a lot of golf, often walk the course and really want something that helps improve your game, then this is the shoe for you. The shoe’s enhanced comfort and performance qualities are what Brooks is looking for in a golf shoe, and who wouldn’t want to add a little Koepka flair to their game.
