Introducing the Original Penguin: In the days of legends like Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, and Jack Nicklaus, Original Penguin was a premiere apparel brand in the golf industry. In fact, all three hall-of-famers touted Penguin throughout portions of their careers. The brand virtually disappeared throughout the 1990s, but now it’s making a comeback.
Looking to disrupt the normalcy of modern golf apparel by drawing on patterns from their past, Original Penguin offers high-tech fabrics while ensuring designs remain classic and traditional. Best of all, the styles are highly versatile, meaning you can rock them both on and off the course.
Matt Panegasser, vice president of sales for Original Penguin says that they didn’t want to create a product that was solely designed for the golf course. “We created something that is really authentic and true to our roots but looks just as good with a pair of golf shorts as it does with a pair of jeans,” he said.
Who’s it for?
The line of polos, shorts, pants, and outerwear isn’t necessarily targeted at a specific age demographic, but at an idea.
“It’s really targeted at a mindset,” says Panegasser. “Penguin is what you want to wear for a good time. It’s a state of mind more than anything else. And we hear from people in their twenties to fifties that tell us how much they love the style, so it’s really just about that mindset.”
You can already see the brand on Tour this season—Cameron Smith has been sporting Penguin’s fun, colourful designs this year, and was even named one of the top-five best dressed at the Masters. In the near future, Panegasser says that you can expect to see pros from various age groups wearing Original Penguin on Tour.
Original Penguin apparel can be found in Golf Town stores across the country or online. Add some flair to your golfing wardrobe this season. Original Penguin will have you looking like a legend.
