Each summer the #BrookeBrigade are thrilled to get up close and personal with their hero, as they take to the fairways to cheer on Canadian golf superstar Brooke Henderson. This summer, during the CP Women’s Open at Magna Golf Club, artist David Arrigo created a painting to capture the magic that happened in 2018 as Brooke won the CP women’s open.
The painting, entitled “Brooke Brigade” was turned into a custom print, with only 65 numbered copies being created by Golf Town to celebrate Henderson’s incredible accomplishments and connect with her fans.
Arrigo, who was well recognized for his painting of other sports events, as well as personalizing hockey goalie masks, said doing a water colour at a live event is enjoyable given the interaction with the spectators who return to see how his artistry is turning out. “I’ve been fortunate that I’ve been doing this for many, many years and I just love the interaction with the public when they keep coming back to see the progress,” Arrigo said. As for the subject, Brooke’s emotion and competitive drive on the course made her a great subject for Arrigo’s water colour, which captures the emotion of Henderson’s incredible 2018 CP Women’s Open victory, as well as the connection to her fans. “She makes it very easy for me,” he said.
