What’s next? Getting players to make everything a success. After all, bringing players to your event will raise the money that will be used to support your cause. But how do you do it?
Work your organization
The ideal place to start to promote your event is to look inward. If you’re running a fundraiser for a charity, consider sharing your custom GT Tournaments page in an e-blast you can send out to your organization that has all the details of the event. Encourage people to circulate it among their friends and golfers they think might be interested.
If your event is raising money for a team, make sure the notice goes to parents of the players, and they’ll surely circulate it among their friends, relatives and colleagues.
Even the course you’re playing at can be helpful. Finally, ensure you’ve provided your sponsors with an invite they can use to promote it as well.
Think digital
While you’ll want to have posters out in the areas around your tournament—think community centers, grocery stores, etc.—there are plenty of other places to consider, and these days that’s likely digital options. Share your Golf Town Tournaments page on Facebook, it is a great way to capture some attention and promote your event.
What are you promoting?
Remember, for the most part you’re not promoting the course or the tournament. Instead, you’re promoting your cause. Welcome people to come to your tournament and let them know what their support will benefit. If it is a team, let potential golfers know what their funds will assist with. Maybe it is a national tournament the team wants to attend, or perhaps it is helping players facing financial struggles participate in something they otherwise would have to miss. If it is a charity, let your golfers know what their support will mean. People want to feel good about how their money is being used, and you’ll get more participants in your tournament by giving them the details.
