We went a long way together in 2023. All to build a stronger golf community.
Golf Town initiatives stretched right across the country in a variety of forms as we continued to work together to grow the game we all love.
No better place to start than with the Brooke Brigade. Back again, louder and prouder than ever at the CPKC Women’s Open at Shaughnessy in Vancouver.
The weeks leading up to the Canadian event are always the most hectic on the schedule for Golf Town Ambassador Brooke Henderson and her sister/caddie Brittany. Still, as always, Brooke found lots of time for her legions of young fans who couldn’t wait to catch a glimpse of one of the best players on the LPGA Tour. The CPKC Women’s Open won some prestigious awards, including Tournament of the Year, Best Sponsor Activation and Best Volunteer Appreciation!
While Brooke continues to be an example for young fans, another Golf Town Ambassador once again inspired women of all ages to simply Come Out and Play. Lisa “Longball” Vlooswyk continued to bring the energy in her own unique way with a series of clinics aimed at getting women to hit the links just for the fun of it. If you haven’t had a chance to attend a Lisa Longball clinic, you can experience some of that energy in this episode of the Come Out and Play Podcast.
At Golf Town, we understand there is no better way to grow the game than to have more women playing.
We celebrated women in the game with a host of community initiatives, including Ladies’ Events across the country, an exclusive Ladies Night Out event in our stores and a Ladies Golf Day at Mill Run near Uxbridge, Ontario, where women were invited to bring a friend and tee it up on us.
Golf Town was also very proud to launch the first-ever “Come Out and Play Junior Girls Golf Camp” in Calgary, where over 30 young girls took part in a two-day session learning the fundamentals of the game while emphasizing fun. We aim to expand the program to new locations and municipalities across Canada in the coming years.
We followed the season-long journey of Golf Town Associate Kate Johnston as she attempts to earn her Epson Tour card in hopes of playing on the LPGA Tour one day. Go get it, Kate!
Golf and hockey seem to go hand in hand, so Golf Town was on site in Nashville to sponsor the NHL Coaches Tournament in Nashville, where coaches traded pucks for putts … and we were in Calgary for the Flames Pre-Season charity golf tournament.
2023 was a great year both on and off the course, and we’re already looking forward to an exciting 2024.
