Celebrating Women’s Golf Day

While 2020 has been a year of undeniable change, one thing is for certain: we are continuing to be steadfast in our support of women in golf.

As the golf industry celebrates Women’s Golf Day on Sept. 1, we have been at the forefront of promoting women in golf, supporting our star female athletes, and offering the biggest selection of clubs, footwear, and apparel for Canadian female golfers.

The current offerings for women in golf at our stores are just the beginning. We remain committed to driving interest in the game for women forward, along with continuing to offer unparalleled selection for female golfers of all levels to play, look, and feel their best.

We are pleased to join in the celebration of Women’s Golf Day. We are thrilled to offer golfers across Canada the largest assortment of the newest products available today. As the game of golf continues to grow and more people participate in the sport, so does our commitment to enhance our product offerings as we continue to seek out new and innovative items.

OUR LEADING LADIES

Our athletes Brooke Henderson and Lisa ‘Longball’ Vlooswyk continue to crush it.

Lisa’s cross-Canada in-store clinics had to take a pause in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, that didn’t stop her from still informing and entertaining Canadians earlier this spring. Her virtual clinics – broadcast live on Facebook – were viewed hundreds of thousands of times.

“[Women’s Golf Day] is fantastic. It’s showing women are golfers but they’re strong and capable of achieving any level of success,” Lisa said about Women’s Golf Day in 2019. “To me, it’s inspiring and motivating. I believe it struck a chord with amateur golfers across Canada because it’s that push for women to get to the next level.”

On the highest of levels is Brooke, who at 21 years old became Canada’s winningest golfer on either the PGA Tour or LPGA Tour.

Her ninth victory on the LPGA Tour came in June 2019 and she’s been a beacon of inspiration for female Canadian golfers – young and old. Up until this year, any golf event you attended had a large group of youngsters (both boys and girls) rocking Brooke’s visor and Brooke Brigade t-shirts eagerly following her around.

The Brooke Brigade, her ongoing inspiration of Canada’s next generation, and of course, her play, are just some examples of how Brooke is taking the torch for women in golf in Canada – and we are thrilled to be her partner!

CELEBRATING OUR STAFF

Not only are we committed to our athletes like Lisa – a multi-time Canadian Long Drive champion – and Brooke – a major winner along with top-10 golfer in the world – but our staff is chalk full of determined, fun, and strong women.

Marisa is the general manager at one of our Winnipeg locations. She began working at the company eight years ago after a lifetime of playing golf. She says looking back on her decision nearly a decade ago was “definitely” the right one.

The company’s commitment to growing the game of golf and supporting women golfers is just one of the many reasons I love working at Golf Town. Historically, we have been an under-served sector of the playing population and I am proud to be part of a company that promotes and empowers female golfers.

Tanya is the general manager at our Moncton location. She says when she started with the company she was under the impression it would be a very male-dominated customer base.

Golf Town is at the forefront of growing the sport with not only women but juniors as well through the partnerships with Lisa and Brooke Henderson. I don’t see that male dominance… I see golfers – men, women, and children. It’s a community, and for me it is extremely empowering to be a woman in the mix of it all!

On behalf of all of us at Golf Town, we celebrate Women’s Golf Day – and we can’t wait to continue to push forward to sharing this great game with everyone.

  1. Absolutely love being inspired by Lisa and Brooke! Two amazing women who dominate the sport of Golf! Watching video of Brook’s swing and watching Lisa’s videos breaking down the mechanics from a female’s perspective – you just can’t put money on information like that! Way to encourage women, children and men in the sport and at your Golftowns. I have noticed a huge difference in your sales people and their nature of encouragement and excitement when you ask them a question or get fitted. You do not get this same reaction from any other golf stores. Thank you Golftown!!
