Whether it’s on-site events, clinics, athlete support, or just making sure the latest and greatest women’s fashions and gear are in stock for golfers of all skill levels, we at Golf Town are thrilled to be a prominent supporter of women’s golf in Canada – now and every day.
There is such a strong presence of women in golf right now, including perhaps the most famous of all female athletes on the planet – Caitlin Clark. The basketball mega star and Time Magazine’s Athlete of the Year for 2024 is obsessed with the game of golf and teed it up in a few pro-ams on the PGA Tour calendar last year. That’s just one such example of how celebrity-driven awareness for golf is helping with its growth – while the LPGA Tour continues to grow, too.
In 2025, golfers on the LPGA Tour will play for a combined, total prize fund of $131 million (USD), which is the largest-ever total for the organization. It’s a whopping $61 million more than the total prize fund just four years ago.
There are also two new events on the calendar, plus 24 events will offer travel stipends, free accommodations, and even minimum payouts to competitors.
“We’re excited to see even more thrilling competition and unforgettable moments for our partners, athletes and fans worldwide as we continue to celebrate and support the remarkable journey of women’s golf in our 75th year,” outgoing LPGA commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan said late last year.
While not every Golf Town customer is teeing it up week-in and week-out with the best in the world, we are proud supporters of Brooke Henderson and Lisa ‘Longball’ Vlooswyk as female golf ambassadors and role models.
At the Canadian LPGA Tour stop, the CPKC Women’s Open, we launched a groundbreaking initiative that debuted in 2024, the CPKC Tour Truck. That provided Tour players with a chance to have access to professional fitting and club services on site.
“Golf Town is leading the charge in promoting equality and growth in women’s golf across Canada, and I couldn’t be more excited for myself and my fellow players to have access to the Players Tour Truck at this year’s CPKC Women’s Open,” Brooke said last summer.
Speaking of Brooke, we are so excited to provide continued support of both Brooke and Brittany Henderson. Fans can once again enjoy special Brooke Brigade viewing zones which help to bring the next generation of golfers an opportunity to see Brooke in action up close at the CPKC Women’s Open.
Brooke, now in her 11th year as a professional, continues to inspire female golfers of all ages.
And if there are junior girl golfers out there who want to spring it like Brooke – ponytail and all – we are thrilled to announce the third year of the Come Out and Play Girls Golf Camp will be taking place and continue to grow in 2025!
The camp had two full-day lessons on chipping, putting, range sessions, and golf education – plus a two-hole challenge on the final day.
From the entire Golf Town Team, we would like to take this time to celebrate all our incredible staff, Ambassadors and female golfers alike a very happy International Women’s Day.
